Writer's Journal #9

After completing the reflections for the Peer Review exercises, I decided that I would have to make three major revisions to the narrative. The first was installing a smoother transition between two large ideas in the story. I considered that one a structural issue. The next one was the fact that all the paragraphs had two spaces in between them instead of five indents and no spaces, so that's an organizational issue that I need to correct. Before I had received any peer reviews, I noticed this as I was reading others' narratives because everyone that I reviewed had indented their paragraphs like you're supposed to. The final improvement was that I should add more detail to the section of the narrative where I explained how one idea affected another idea. Other than that, the peer review process showed that everything turned out pretty well.

I don't think I have any time constraints on the subject of revising the Literacy Narrative. Since this is the last Writer's Journal for this module, there isn't anything else other than the quiz, which is due on June 14, that I need to do after I complete the Literacy Narrative revision, which will be done by today, June 10. I'm pretty sure I can carry out all the revisions in one go, but if I run into something and realize things will take a lot longer than I anticipated, I might consider continuing it on into the weekend. If that were to happen, I feel like the first issue I mentioned would be left for the weekend (installing a smoother transition between two large ideas in the story.) The reason is because this issue is larger and more abstract compared to the other two, and I feel like it may take longer than I originally anticipated. Still, I think I can finish all the revisions up in one go without much trouble.

The most important thing I need to accomplish in the draft revision is the indenting of the paragraphs. While this may sound like a small issue, it looks like a huge, gaping one when you are reading the narrative as an observer or peer. That is why I need to make sure I fix that issue immediately so it doesn't get carried over into the weekend backlog. As a result, I'll fix the indenting issue first, and then fix the lack of detail in the explanation of how one idea affected another after that. If I have time to do it, I will then smooth out the transition between a couple of large ideas. If everything goes to plan, I should finish it by the end of today. I can't really plan anything else out, since almost everything depends on how long each revision takes. The most important thing, however, is that I complete at least one of the issues that I need to fix, the paragraph indenting, before I run out of time and push some of the other tasks to the weekend.

And that is all for Writer's Journal #9.
