Probably the most important purpose that I sought in taking this course was more experience in the more abstract parts of writing, and how to correctly use the Writing Process through planning, drafting, and revising to make sure my writing comes out well, since I did not know of this process before taking this course. The next reason is to build my knowledge of the different writing types you can create, like a context analysis, an audience analysis, a purpose analysis, etc. These are all forms of writing and narratives that I had previously not known about before. The final reason for taking this course is to get experience taking a course like this so I would have knowledge of how the average course works if I were to take one again.
I think the first reason, which was the hope to gain more experience in abstract parts of writing, was probably fueled by the fact that I love to write and there are many things in this course that seem to cater to that. The second reason ties into the small experience I've had with short narratives and essays before, and most of the topics in this course and the writing projects have lots of new objectives that I hadn't done before.
After grouping the first two ideas together, I think the primary purpose in taking this course is to 1) gain more experience with different types of writing, like context analysis or audience analysis, and 2) gain more experience with abstract writing topics.
That's all for Writer's Journal #16.
